It may not be one you've heard of – but it's John Godber's personal favourite amongst his output of more than 40 plays. On his graduation day our hero - by a curious coincidence his name is . . . John (Tim Simson) – takes a trip down memory lane, and a wry and affectionate look at Yorkshire family life.
His parents – houseproud Dot (Frances Farrugia) and easygoing Vic (Nick Watts), grandparents – loving Liz (Mary Hearmon) and dour Jack (Colin Macleod), aunties – mucky Aunty Doris eternally knitting tank tops (Jo Simson) and posh Aunty Edna constantly demanding Ringtons tea (Nita Gowans) – his exotic, much-travelled cousin Rebecca and Lynn Sutton, the girl next door (both played by multi-talented Lynsey Gammage).
From failing his 11-plus, through being bullied at Secondary School, discovering sex and drama, the loss of his beloved grandma and a disastrous caravan holiday at Whitley Bay, John traces growing up and apart and the invisible, unbreakable thread of love which holds his family together. KATS invite you to join him and spend an evening of laughter, tears and great theatre, masterminded by Director Chris Simson.
